Fall is around the corner and with that comes the awesomeness (insert sarcasm) that is cold season. But that doesn’t mean that you have to be a victim to all that is cold and flu season. The best thing to do is prepare a toolkit to build your immune system and create an environment that fosters health.
Why Essential Oils?
With the rise of network marketing companies talking about essential oils, they are more common in people’s home than they once were. Essential oils are oils that have been extracted from plants with the “essential” being the essence of the plant. Essential oils have been used medicinally both in history and currently. They’ve been attributed to the treatment of cancer, skin conditions and more. The best part about essential oils is that they don’t have to be ingested to work.
How Can I Use Essential Oils?
There’s a couple of different ways that you can use them. I use them in 2 different ways–diffused in the air and rubbed on my body. Whenever using them, you should cut the oils with a carrier oil such as coconut, grapeseed, or castor oil as they can be really strong by themselves.
5 Must-Have Essential Oils for Fall
With Fall coming up, these are the must-have essential oils for your toolkit:
Rose Oil
Did you know that rose has been known to ward off the blues? As the days get darker and the weather gets cooler many people struggle with finding their sunshine but keeping some of this nearby will help.
How to use: Dab a little on your wrists and behind your earlobes to keep those blues at bay.
Rosemary Oil
This one isn’t really only for fall–this is year round for me but rosemary is great for lowering cortisol levels in your body! Back to school and more equals more stress and weight gain because we know that as women, we put that weight on around the midsection that stresses us out at the end of winter as we try to shed it for summer.
How to use: Put some in a diffuser with a little coconut oil and lavender to create a relaxing environment.
Cinnamon Oil
Cinnamon oil is another oil that’s great for battling the blues, fighting virus’, and stimulating the libido wink wink.
How to use: Place 1 drop of oil in hot water or tea with some lemon and honey as an immune booster.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is a natural antibiotic and one of my favorite essential oils that we use year round. It’s great for treating acne, infections and more.
How to use: Mix with distilled water and lemon and create a toner for your skin.
Four Thieves
There’s a super fun story behind Four Thieves that you guys should totally look up. I first heard about it when I was battling with abc and her never-ending ear infection a couple of years ago. It’s essential for battling those icky germs that come with kids.
How to use: Mix with coconut oil and rub around the lymph nodes.
