Some days I’m that super prepared mom when we leave the house. I’ve got the snacks packed, enough water, and meals just in case my kids claim they’re starving when we’re out. But sometimes I’m literally grabbing kids, their bags and running out the door without a second to prepare–balance, right?
Favorite Snacks To Pack For A Day On-The-Go
My kids are all card holding members of #TeamEat. They think snacking is part of our curriculum–it is not. But knowing that hangry is a real thing, I try to set us up for success.
Everyone Gets A Snack
Now that BC is an official eater, we have to make sure that EVERYONE has their own snacks or things can get ugly. Some of our favorites are crackers, apples, grapes, and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. Yes, sandwiches are part of the snack repertoire around here. I try to make sure that their snacks are pretty well balanced with some fats (yes, fat), fiber and protein.
But What Happens When We Forget The Snacks?
It happens.
As important as snacks are, there are times that we leave the house without them–for shame. But when we do, there are a select few spots that we’ll stop at to prevent the hangry monsters from coming out. One of these spots is Wendy’s!
You Get Some Chicken! You Get Some Chicken! You Get Some Chicken!
Did you know that there are 3 options for chicken on the kids menu? One for each of my kids! Mini thinks she’s grown so she doesn’t like chicken nuggets anymore. I love that I can meet her pre-pre-tween taste buds with the Chicken Wrap.
Abc loves chicken tenders so that’s what she gets while BC gets the 4-piece chicken tenders. Yes, he eats all four of them.
I love how Wendy’s offers Honest Kids Drink boxes and apples along with the Kids Meals–definitely makes me feel better about my choices for them!
Sometimes we don’t need to each have our own meals and we’re literally just running to grab something. In these instances, grabbing 2 of the 4 for $4 hits the spot.
What do you do when you’ve left the house without snacks for the kids?
