Keto is the current go-to lifestyle that promises to snatch waistlines while managing autoimmune symptoms. Amazing, right? For those that don’t know about the ketogenic lifestyle, I’ll give a brief intro to that but the focus here is how to eat keto on the go.

What Is Keto?

The ketogenic, or Keto, diet was developed to put your body into ketosis. What does that mean, right? This is when your body begins to use energy from fat deposits versus carbohydrates. In order to do this, you’ve got to restrict the amount of carbs you intake.

Yes, this can lead to crankiness BUT the results have also included weight loss and some other health benefits as well. This lifestyle is ideal for those who don’t process carbs or gluten very well. Some wonder about the sustainability of the lifestyle but what’s healthy for one isn’t necessarily healthy for all.

Keto is the current craze. But what about the people who are always on the go? Here’s how eating Keto On The Go can work for you.

How To Eat Keto On The Go

I wanted to cover this after a failed attempt at adopting the Keto lifestyle. See, we practically live on the go and I wasn’t properly prepared for this myself. In other words, I wish I had this article! Here are some things I learned while attempting success:

Make sure you pack snacks

While there’s a lot of prep involved in most Keto friendly snacks, many are ready to buy and eat! Some of these snacks are beef jerky, almonds, cheese and pork rinds. Listen friends, pork rinds have come a looooooong way since I used to clown my mom for eating them!

Make sure you have enough water.

Oddly enough, this was my downfall. I seemed to always forget my water!!! Terrible, I know.

Properly calculate your macros.

I can’t believe I even typed that. Someone said this to me and I was like “ummm what does that even mean?” Yeah. But I used the LifeSum app and they did it for me. Basically it’s the breakdown of how many grams of protein, fat and carbs you should be having daily. This is important.

Don’t be afraid to eat out.

I would be starving myself because I didn’t want to slip up but a starving Aaronica is an Aaronica who eats all the things. One of our favorite spots to eat at while we’re on the go is Wendy’s.

Wendy’s Keto-Friendly Options

We’re big chicken eaters so I keep it simple by just ordering chicken-based items. All of their salads can be made with grilled chicken. Make sure that you remove any fruits and boom! Keto-friendly.

One of my favorites is to make a chicken sandwich with lettuce while at Wendy’s. I ask for extra lettuce when I order my grilled chicken sandwich and there you have it! Keto-friendly chicken sandwich!

I also love how you can substitute side salads for fries as well as add avocado to sandwiches and salads. Making sure you get your veggies in is super important as they’re filled with fiber and other nutrients good for you.
