The universe: *rubs hands together while sending me through 2 of the most challenging months* you still committed?
I am.
After a whirlwind weekend, BC woke up in the middle of the night screaming in pain saying his ears hurt. We tried soothing him but ultimately ended up taking him to the ER. Because my kids are SO extra, he as diagnosed with scarlet fever, strep throat and an ear infection.
One of the things that should be talked about more is how parents internalize our kids pain. I was already exhausted and feeling rundown as I finish recovering from being sick for so long. But hearing my littlest love scream and cry in pain?
I need a break. And I’m taking it tonight. Mini and I fly out to Seattle on Wednesday night where I’ll be teaching 5 classes. My summer pattern needs to be made and photographed within the next 8 days.
But I’m exhausted. I’m going to take the rest I need. And I’m encouraging you to do the same.
Schedule your rest in before you get put on your ass.
Oh, and take your probiotics.

My baby. My mic drop. The epilogue. He went to the barber for his haircut today. He’s graduated from mommy fades to skin fades.

I’m working on learning to dance in the rain so I can teach my kids how to do it too.
2023 has kicked off with some challenges but I’m confident it’s still going to be an amazing year despite being sick for a month, having 2 flat tires within a week, my car still not being fixed from the accident almost a year ago, loss of friendships, business shifts and more.
My car is back in the shop for an indefinite amount of time. Because I didn’t have rental for my uninsured policy with @progressive, we’re all just riding clean in my husband @toyotausa Camry. Instead of being bothered by having to pick my kids up from school and then having to pick my husband up, we went and hung out down by the @atlantabeltline. BC made friends while and was listening attentively to someone playing either the cello or the bass. Then we walked and fell in love with the sounds of @joyabravo. We headed over to @poncecitymarket and dropped in on our friends over at @gladandyoungstudio (who have the best items in their store) and @modernmystic_shop (where the kids had the sales associate swooning).
I wish I could say it was an easy ride back home once we got my husband but when we got to the car, we had a flat tire. Luckily this one came off easier then the one last week.
There have been a series of just really hard times but part of my commitment to my health this year is doing a better job taking care of my mindset. I’m actively choosing to see the good in situations. And if there’s none there, I’m being the good.
Two things can exist at once—joy and pain, happiness and challenges, rain and rainbows. ✨✨✨
