Guys, I’m so excited to be participating in my very first sewing blog hop and it’s with 2 of my favorite pattern companies: Made for Mermaids and Patterns for Pirates. I chose to make an outfit (or two) for Thanksgiving. So I’ve announced time after time that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Like Shirley Ceaser said, green beans, potatoes, tomatoes, chicken, lamb, et al. I’m here for all of it. One of the things that I always plan for during Thanksgiving is my tummy getting bigger as a result of all the food I fully indulge in which is why I made the outfit choices I did.
Sew, What Do I Wear For Thanksgiving Dinner?
One of my favorite things to do is create a mashup of some of my favorite patterns. My dinner dress is an off the shoulder pencil dress that I created with the Slim-Fit Raglan and Pirate Pencil Skirt from Patterns for Pirates. I got this fabric in an auction box from my favorite fabric supplier Knitpop. When I got the fabric, I really didn’t think I would ever use it–it look a little granny-ish, right? No shade to the grandma’s but I’ve got quite a few years before I get there! But it’s a stable knit and can hide so many imperfections which made it perfect for this project. It’s stretchy enough to let my stomach expand while not making me look like the Marshmallow Man.
Sew, What Do I Wear For Thanksgiving Dessert?
Holidays mean that there will be multiple adults around who can’t wait to spend time with my girls. And that means that the hubs and I get a much needed date night! So tis the season of the off-the-shoulder tops and dresses and I’ll already be wearing a strapless bra (kids… they never put anything back in place, right?) so why not keep the party going with another off-the-shoulder dress. This one is the Made For Mermaids Mama Daphne dress. I wanted it to be more of a shift dress shape to take attention off my stomach (which will be nice and full) but still cute and sexy. This fabric is from Hancock which is no longer in business. It’s got 20% 4-way stretch which makes it perfect for this project which can be for wovens that have nice drape or knits.
Sew, what do you guys think? What are you wearing for Thanksgiving this year?
