When I was a kid, my mom used to throw the most amazing Halloween parties for my brother since his birthday was around the holiday. Now as a mom, celebrating Halloween and the holidays is my favorite thing in the world. But here’s the thing: I don’t want to go broke because I’ve balled out on Halloween decor and treats. So how do you throw an epic Halloween party on a budget?
With good planning and Dollar General.
Planning An Epic Halloween Party On A Budget With Dollar General
Halloween sets off the holiday season and this year, I want to celebrate it pumpkin style. Knowing this, when I went shopping at Dollar General I was pretty specific about what I was looking for. They had coordinating tablecloths, plates, cups, and napkins which made that part easy. Best part? Each of the pieces were each $1!
I grabbed some pumpkin decor as well. They had some really pretty Day of The Dead designed pumpkins and I love the color that they added to the table. To give some dimension in height, I grabbed some glass vases to fill with candies.
But It’s Not Just About The Candy
I’m one of those moms that really limits the amount of candy in my house. We will donate to the organizations that send Halloween candy to our troops overseas or we take it to the dentist. But I love how Dollar General also has some really great non-candy options. Some of our favorite snacks are the Veggie Straws by Clover Valley. These come in a couple of different flavors and I don’t feel guilty about serving them up! I grabbed some play-doh, stickers, and skeleton “army” men to give the kids something to actually play with while they’re at the party.
For those that participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project, you can also fill up those pumpkins with non-candy treats from Dollar General!
A Spooky Entrance
What would a Halloween party be without a fun and spooky entrance!? My favorite thing EVERY Halloween to buy is the spider web. It’s so versatile and legit creeps me out if it touches me. And it’s perfect to hold these glow in the dark bats that I have stuck in there. Dollar General’s outdoor decor options were not just really cute and fun, but they are cost-effective as well!
As I checked out and the cashier read my total, the woman behind me in line gasped saying, “That’s all that cost?!?!” Yes sis, yes. We’re balling on a Halloween budget over here.
