This post is in partnership with Publix.
I think that grilling season is one that never ends. Between grilling and smoking foods, I can’t get enough. When Publix approached me about creating a recipe that included their delicious Envy Apples, I knew that it would be perfect for the grill and came up with the grilled pork & envy apple kebab recipe!
It’s important to note that this recipe can be made with other meats as well. I suggest swapping it for chicken if you don’t eat pork–one of my taste testers in Publix suggested lamb as well. Both are great options so don’t cancel this recipe because it’s made with pork!
The Difference of Envy Apples
I’m an uncertified apple connoisseur. I’m from New York and I grew up eating the crisp, tart Macintosh apples up there. Envy Apples offer a sweeter taste with a beautiful crispness that makes it great to pair with both something sweet and savory. During the Publix tasting event, my friend Ashley from Mommyweek paired the Envy Apple with the goat cheese and honey–it was so good.

Publix Tasting Event
On Saturday, September 7, I was in Publix sharing my recipe with customers. There were other bloggers there doing the same–it was a pretty fun event! Everyone but one person loved my recipe and shared the appreciation of having all the flavors present. The maple glaze is such a nice accent since the sweetness is balanced out by mustard, ginger, and garlic. The onion offers a savory balance to the apple and all of it together is a medley of flavor.
Having strangers taste your recipe is really nerve-wracking! I normally cook for my family and I know the things they like. And if we’re being completely honest, my feelings get hurt when they say they don’t like things as well! But my recipe was well received and I was really excited about that. I’m appreciative for this opportunity to work with Publix in a way that pushed me out of my proverbial cooking shell!
Tell me: do you plan on trying this recipe out with pork, chicken or lamb?
