Did you know that October is Non-GMO Month? What does GMO stand for? Genetically modified organisms. Why is this important when making healthy choices?

The experimental technology of genetic engineering forces DNA from one species into a different species. The resulting GMOs are unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that cannot occur in nature or in traditional breeding. GMOs have not been adequately tested, and have not been proven safe for human consumption.

This October makes the third annual Non-GMO Month which was created to help raise awareness about GMO issues and to celebrate those brands that are Non-GMO Project Verified. They recently launched a new line of pre & postnatal vitamins, the first multivitamin line designed for each stage of pregnancy that are certified Non-GMO!

Did you know that you should start taking prenatal or preconception vitamins long before youā€™re trying to get pregnant? The first thousand days is crucial in a childā€™s life.

Vitamins For Your First Thousand Days

First thousand days.Ā Yes, that’s one thousand days of vitamins.

This can be such an intimidating numberā€”especially if you struggle with taking vitamins consistently. But this isnā€™t just for youā€”itā€™s also for your baby who needs their vitamins too so donā€™t stress out over this number! Weā€™re talking about a little over 2 and a half years if that makes it easier to digest.

Why the First Thousand Days?

This was what I thought too when I saw it. But as a mom of a now 8-year-old, it all makes perfect sense.

Preparing Your Body For Pregnancy

When you want to get pregnant, there are a couple things that can help create a healthy environment for baby. A healthy mind and spirit free of stress are two of them as is getting physicalā€”both in the bed and outside of it. These things are the more obvious aspects we think about. But what about making sure that the nutrients you need are present too? Honestly speaking, this is the hardest part for me. If we were to eat all the nutrients really needed, we would not stop eating. Therefore, having a vitamin that is comprehensive is important so there is one less thing to worry about.

First Trimester

Part of me wants to say that the first trimester was hardest but, pregnancy itself was just hard for me. Between the nausea, throwing up, and sleepiness, I just felt awful. I always felt like I needed more of everything in my first trimester because I threw up so much!

Second Trimester

This is when people say they get their energy and donā€™t feel nauseated anymore. Lies. LOL!!!

But seriously. My second trimesters werenā€™t always filled with so much throw up but there wasnā€™t any glorious amount of energy. In fact,as the babies grew, they were taking more from me.

Third Trimester

Homestretch!!! Yes! By the time the third trimester comes the fatigue creeps in but the baby is basically here! Making sure that I was never starving while getting in the healthy fats and Omega 3ā€™s and all thatyouā€™re supposed to can become challenging!

Include taking your vitamins as part of your everyday routine!

Postnatal or Fourth Trimester

Because all my babies have been breastfed, the quality of vitamins that I take AFTER are just as important as during. But adding supplements for breastfeeding and milk supply can be daunting.

Rainbow Light Vibrance

Friends. When I saw this vitamin line I was really excited for all of you that are either starting the process of getting pregnant or those who are. Why? Rainbow Light has taken all the thinking for us. The Preconception Multivitamin was designed to help prepare your body for a baby. The vitamin C and zinc levels help to support your immune system to make sure youā€™re in tip top shape. The first through third trimesters contain supplements that help with nausea, constipation (this is awful), and the brain development of baby. The Postnatal vitamins even include moringa, organic fenugreek, and organic fennel seed to help with breastmilk supply. These vitamins also contain both pre- and probiotics!!!

Not Just For Moms

Once baby hits 6 months through 24 months, Rainbow Light has them covered as well. They have a pre-measured powder that has a neutral taste, so it can easily be mixed into bottles, sippy cups, applesauce and other foods. How awesome is that!?

Why RainbowLight

When I was pregnant with BC, I found RainbowLight and loved them. I chose them at the time because it was organic, Non-GMO, and Gluten-free. I normally donā€™t have issues with gluten but when youā€™re pregnant, everything you once knew about yourself is thrown out the window. But these were some of the only vitamins I could take and not immediately throw back up. Theyā€™re made from a quality product to help you create a quality baby.
