When my husband and I met, I was slim, trim and super athletic. At 28, I was in the best shape of my life and had the discipline of, well, someone who’s super disciplined. In fact, it was contagious. When my husband and I started dating, he became more conscious about what he ate and worked out alongside me. It was actually one of the things that brought us so close.
Marriage, job changes and two more children later, I’m in the worst shape of my life and eat like there won’t be consequences to my choices.
Meeting The Founders of MacroLife Changed Things
This year I spoke at quite a few conferences–each one of them offering me unexpected lessons. The last conference I spoke at was WOW Summit where I had the opportunity to meet the founders of MacroLife. I spoke with Sylvia about how alkalinity in your body affects cravings and ultimately how we process the food that we’re eating.
Our conversation resonated with me so much that I went home gushing to my husband about their products and everything I had learned. He tried the samples of the Macro Greens and Miracle Reds–by tried I mean he used all the samples that I brought home with me. If any of you ladies reading this have wanted to get your veggie hating spouses to eat more greens and have failed, you understand my excitement at him willingly consuming a vegetable-based product.
We Both Need To Make A Change
I scoured the MacroLife Naturals website to see how others had used their products before seeing if this would spark the much-needed change that my husband and I were seeking. We both have sweet cravings and love of chips. When Sylvia and I talked about how re-balancing the bodies alkaline levels would be the kicker, I knew we needed to try it. So we are.
Our Plan
Yes, my ultimate goal is weight-loss. I know that I can do this by eliminating all the unhealthy things from my diet, working out, etc. But here’s the thing, I’m looking to correct some things–namely the reason why I have these overwhelming cravings for sweet foods.
Adding To Our Diet
We’ll be adding the following things to our daily diets:
- Macro Greens (3x/day 30 minutes before meals)
- Miracle Reds (post workouts)
- Macro Meal (for one meal)
Adding To Our Day
We’re committing to a minimum of 30 minutes of activity 3 times per week starting out.
A Healthy Life Is a Journey, Not a Destination
This is an attitude that’s hard for both Denvor and I to accept. We’re both ex-athletes that are used to being able to run miles, lift heavy, and not be winded easily. But we both want to make a different lifestyle–not just for our kids but because we deserve it too.
We’ve committed to a 6-month journey with MacroLife and starting on January 2, we begin! Keep up with our journey by following the #MacroTCM on Twitter and Instagram as well as updates that will be shared here too.

January 2019
It’s time for our first update!
This is an exciting one too. If you’ve been watching my IG stories, then by now you’ve seen that I’m finally able to fit into some pants that I couldn’t fit into when I first bought them. A little bit about the pants: I got them from JustFab and had coveted them for what feels like forever. I finally ordered them in a size that I thought would fit. These pants have zero stretch and I felt every fiber that lacked in the stretch when I tried them on. I was really sad.
Cut to today. January 31, 2019. I put them on and they fit. No muffin top. Nothing. And then I stepped on the scale and friends, I hit my goal of losing 10lbs this month.
So what did I do?
I wish I could say that I followed the protocol consistently but I haven’t because consistency is my struggle. But I did follow the following MOST of the month:
- 3 8oz glasses of green drink
- 1 protein shake
- 1 8oz glass of red drink
Yep. That’s it. I didn’t do any dieting. I did start back working out the third week of the month. But here’s the thing: what I WANTED to eat changed. Whereas I normally tend to crave cookies and sweets and fried foods, when I drank the greens, I no longer craved them. Did I still eat them? On occasion. But when I had an Oreo, I was able to stop at just one because I no longer wanted anymore. After I had a handful of chips, I was able to stop because I didn’t want them.
And I craved greens. Like I have been wanting salads and proteins and I haven’t felt like I wanted anything else.
But what about my husband?
He struggled a bit with making sure he packed his pre-made drinks. But he also found out that organic apple juice is super cheap at Aldi’s so he began making his at work.
The major difference that he’s seen has been in his energy levels and how his stomach handles different foods. Unlike me, he’s got a sensitive tummy. He deals with some pretty hard stomach issues monthly and they’ve gone down.
One month down, a couple more to go!!!
