Unless you’ve never seen a picture of me, you know that I’m basically a lover of tattoos. My cousin is a super talented tattoo artist and gave me my second tattoo when I was 19. Since breastfeeding and having babies, I’ve slowed down on getting new ink, but when I was out in Dallas for the WOW Summit, I stopped at the Koneko Studio for a new tattoo. What about the Koneko Studio made me feel like I HAD to get inked there, right?
One of the people I follow on Instagram went there and got their very first tattoo done. But when I checked them out for myself, I found a studio that did things very differently than any tattoo shop that I’ve been to–no shade to the shops here in Atlanta.
What’s So Different About Koneko Studio?
I’ve been tattooed at my house, at tattoo artists houses, and at least 4 tattoo shops and none of them hold a candle to the experience that Koneko Studio offers. When you walk up to the shop, you’re greeted by these beautiful cacti outside. Not like some basic succulents you can keep in your home–these babies are huge and beautiful. But they set the scene for when you walk inside.
Inside is FILLED with beautiful greenery that they sell. In addition to the plant life that’s filling the space with epic oxygen, they have all-natural, vegan, eco-friendly beauty products–including the ink. It’s such a beautiful place!
Ok Aaronica, We Get It. It’s Amazing. But What Tattoo Did You Get?
At Koneko Studio they do all custom work. That’s right. There is no book for you to flip through and tell them that you want a cookie-cutter piece added to your body. I’d been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo on my ring finger to honor my marriage. I figured that since I’ve gained so much weight since weaning BC that I can’t fit my rings anymore, it was the perfect time.
On the top of my finger, I got a long-stemmed rose that has multiple buds on it to represent our blossoming love (so corny, right?). And then on the inside of my finger, I have written in a handwritten script, “I love you most”.
Did It Hurt?
It did! But not to the point where I felt like I had to move or I couldn’t take it. The total time was like 10-15 minutes. Bri did mine and she did a great job. I also got my nose re-pierced by Mas who was also amazing.
If you’re in the Dallas area, I totally recommend swinging by there to have some work done!
